The Suffolk Show – 31st May 2017
@lodgefarmhoney had the most fantastic stall at The Suffolk Show this year which was solely aimed at getting kids interested in growing and eating their own vegetables. I was lucky enough to be invited along with my nutritionist hat on to talk to the children about why eating certain vegetables was so good for them.
From the lycopene content of tomatoes that helps to fight infections, to iron containing spinach to keep us energetic, to herbs such as dill which may help flatulence(!), we had some great conversations with the children and their parents during the day. They also had the opportunity to plant their own salad bowl, which they could take home and nurture and then eventually eat themselves!
I handed out The Gut Life recipe card for Happy Face Pizza which incorporated many of the vegetables we had been talking about during the day and also allows an element of creativity for the children to get their hands dirty helping with the cooking!
All in all a fantastic day and a great experience.
